Doris Kraemer, Advocate for Families Affected by Substance Use Disorder, joins RIZE Board

December 13, 2022

BOSTON (December 13, 2022) – RIZE Massachusetts, an independent nonprofit foundation solely dedicated to funding and creating solutions to end the overdose crisis, today announced that Doris Kraemer of Learn to Cope has been appointed to its Board of Directors.

“Doris Kraemer is a strong advocate and leader who will elevate our organization by ensuring the family perspective on substance use disorder is a part of every discussion, debate and policy decision,” said RIZE President & CEO Julie Burns.

Kraemer is the Cape Cod Family Liaison for Learn to Cope, a peer-led support network for families and loved ones who have someone in their life experiencing issues with substance use disorder. She is working to establish a Cape Cod family resource center to provide services for families affected by substance use disorder; providing education and tools to municipalities and schools in Barnstable County, and addressing substance use disorder in seniors, an often overlooked and underserved population.

“I am honored to join the Board of Directors of RIZE Massachusetts and work with this amazing organization as they build networks, create programming, and support community partners that are using novel approaches to preventing overdose,” Kraemer said.

Kraemer is a registered nurse who is certified in community health, bioethics and gerontology. She was appointed by Gov. Charlie Baker in 2016 to the state’s Commission on Licensed Addiction Treatment Centers. Earlier this year, she was appointed to the Falmouth Commission on Substance Use.
