Person-Centered Care Summit For People With Substance Use Disorders

October 7, 2021

On October 7, 2021, RIZE Massachusetts Foundation, together with C4 Innovations, hosted a Person-Centered Care (PCC) Summit to engage in a dialogue about strategies and action steps clinicians can take to improve health outcomes for those with substance use disorder (SUD) in their organizations and practices.

The PCC summit is part of RIZE’s Together in Recovery (TiR) initiative that fosters an accessible, integrated treatment and recovery network in Massachusetts. The Together in Recovery Advisory Committee, comprised of advocates, clinicians, public officials, and people with lived experience, helped establish the TiR priorities, one of which was to encourage PCC practices.

The summit included leading voices on the importance of personalized patient care including Dr. Nzinga Harrison and Mr. Mark Mohammad who participated in a discussion about its importance with Dr. Sarah Wakeman.

An interactive discussion of PCC practices was facilitated by Dr. Cheryl Gagne allowing participants to share ideas in real-time. Following the interactive discussion. Livia Davis and Daryl McGraw of C4 Innovations facilitated a “One-and-One” discussion to identify action participants can take as a result of the summit to focus on implementing PCC.
